This page will serve as a sort of historical archive of the E-Staff (or Executive Staff) of WRVU. We thought it would be neat to have pictures up here of past members of the radio station, to give an idea of how the station has changed over the years. All of these pictures come from old copies of Vanderbilt's yearbook, The Commodore, that we found lying around.

For example, here's a picture of E-staff six years after the station's inception, in 1961. We were known as WVU then, and we were actually wired directly into the dorms (and not even all the dorms at that!).  We didn't begin broadcasting to Nashville until the mid-60's.
1961

By 1967, we were beginning to loosen up a little -- just a little.  Guys are still wearing ties, but at least they've got more genuine smiles now.
1967

Then the craziness of 1968 hits, and by 1969 (next two pictures), you can clearly see that times have changed. No more formal wear to classes, and even that hair is beginning to grow out a bit. Still, it is Nashville -- and Vanderbilt -- and traditions have to continue somewhere. Why not try a pipe?
1969

Well, let's just skip over the 70's, shall we? A lot of stuff happened, but we don't know what... OK, we just couldn't find any yearbooks from the 70's, so we don't have any pictures. Anyway, moving right along here, we 1981's motley crew of DJs and assorted other staff. Quote in the yearbook about this particular group: "Sometimes it's difficult running at 33 1/3 RPM when the rest of the campus is moving at 45 RPM."  How true that is.

1981

Finally, we come to the 90's, and 1994's E-Staff (some of whom are still hanging around, bless their hearts). Here we have full-on grunge mode. It's just as well. You wouldn't want to hear the Dave Matthews Band 24 hours a day, now would you?
